Campaign will focus on good jobs, good schools, and responsible government spending
(JONESBOROUGH) — State Representative Matthew Hill (R–Jonesborough) officially announced today that he will seek reelection for State Representative of the 7th House District of Tennessee. The announcement follows the conclusion of Hill’s highly successful campaign kickoff event held earlier this week at the Jonesborough Visitors Center.
“After careful thought, consultation with my family, and encouragement from the voters of Washington County, today I am once again declaring my candidacy for the Republican nomination for State Representative,” said Hill.
Hill, who currently resides in Jonesborough, is a lifelong conservative and was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2004.
“Over the last several years, our Republican majority has spearheaded legislation to cut taxes, ensure employers find Tennessee an attractive destination for their businesses, implemented reforms to reinvigorate the state’s education system to better train the next generation of Tennessee workers, and fought hard to protect the integrity of Tennessee teachers.” said Representative Hill. “If reelected, I pledge to continue working with my colleagues in the State Legislature to make our community an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.
Matthew is married to his wife, Amanda, and is the father of two children. In the community, Matthew is an active participant of the Washington County Republican Party and long-time member of the National Rifle Association.
When asked why he has decided to seek reelection, Hill replied:
“It has truly been one of the greatest experiences of my life to represent the people of District 7 over the last 10 years. I am completely humbled by the trust our community has placed in me and hope to continue the bold, conservative leadership Washington Countians have come to expect by serving as your State Representative. With over $17 trillion in debt, the federal government is completely out of control. Thankfully, here in Tennessee, we have strong leaders who understand our country cannot endure such massive debt in the long run. If given the opportunity, my goals in Nashville are to continue reducing the size of government in our daily lives, fighting to cut taxes for all Tennesseans, and opposing federal mandates like Common Core and ObamaCare in our classrooms and in our pocketbooks.”
Matthew Hill serves as Chairman of the House Local Government Committee. He lives in Jonesborough and represents District 7, which encompasses a portion of Washington County. He can be reached by e mail at Rep.Matthew.Hill@capitol.tn.gov or by calling 1-800-449-8366, ext. 12251.
